GameRant
I had the wonderful opportunity to work with GameRant as a video producer — I edited and narrated a few videos for them to feature on their YouTube channel and website. The idea behind these videos was to take pre-existing articles, then condense and convert them into a visual medium for an alternative way of enjoying and consuming the content. As a long time viewer of GameRant myself, it was such a joy to finally be able to work for them. They offered me a contract position, but I had to decline due to commitments to other clients and employers. If the opportunity ever arises to work with them or on content like this again, I would be thrilled to be a part of it.
Charles Peralo
Charles Peralo is a popular YouTuber with nearly one million subscribers on the platform. Known for his community polls, Charles hired me with the goal of breaking into the video space. I served as the lead editor for several of his long-form, documentary style videos dedicated to exploring major stories in the world of Hollywood. My goal as the editor in these was to present the information in a captivating, documentary style, taking inspiration from similar YouTubers, as well as gossip news programs, and even crime documentaries. A few of these videos garnered a healthy view count, and all of them received a stellar response, each with an over 95% like to dislike ratio.
Additionally, I also created short form episodes designed to be shown on Snapchat, such as the Back to the Future video shown here.
SPEED Teaser Trailer (EditFest 2023)
SPEED was a conceptual teaser trailer I edited using stock footage and music for Filmsupply’s annual EditFest in 2023. The competition challenges artists to create a teaser trailer for a hypothetical film using entirely footage from their site, as well as utilizing stock music from Musicbed. I created SPEED drawing inspiration from Safdie brothers films such as Uncut Gems and Good Time, crafting a crime/thriller narrative that preys upon our anxieties and fear of unnatural speed and urgency.
Fan Edits
Creating AMV style fan edits of my favorite films and television shows has been a favorite pastime of mine for years. These edits often get wonderful responses from viewers — my “Spike Spiegel || DREAM.” edit has received over 120,000 views, and a staggering 99.9% like to dislike ratio, with over 4,000 likes.
I love the artistic freedom of expression I am able to grant myself with these personal passion projects. They are a way to explore different editing styles and practice recently learned skills in a low-stakes environment, and the final project is often emotionally and artistically gratifying.
FarmFolk by Micah
I recently had the opportunity to help build a growing brand by editing some video content to be featured on their YouTube channel and website. It was great fun to get to work on a cooking video — something I’d never previously worked on before. The video was also professionally shot by the lovely team at Hudson Valley Podcasting — editing professionally shot video is always a pleasure.
The approach with editing this video was minimalism and simplicity. This meant limited graphics and lots of smooth jump cuts to compensate. This style has been a trending way to handle longer form, vlog style video on YouTube for some time now, and this approach continues to prove its worth.
